HyDro Think Tank at
the GE technical research center (GRC)

do you have what it takes?

The Hydro Think Tank  brings together bright new workforce entrants to solve real world problems with a partner utility.  The 3 day long research and educational forum addresses the needs of the hydropower industry by introducing a specific hydropower issue to have student solve.

This seminar is designed to help develop a sense of an engineer's business by working within a team environment while trying to solve a real-world problem. Developed to mirror Shark Tank, student teams from several university programs will be invited to participate in a problem-solving forum to develop and propose a solution to a plant problem.

the competition

Students from top universities bring their talent, ingenuity and cutting edge-technology, to see if they have what it takes to win the Hydro Think Tank.  University Teams from University of Buffalo, Stony Brook University, University at Albany, Clarkson University, Cornell, RPI, SUNY Polytechnic, City College of New York (CUNY), Manhattan College and University of Binghamton will be brought in for an intense week of hands on problem solving to give their best solutions to pressing hydropower issues. The week is filled with exploration, training, team work, meeting top researchers in the industry and senior level management for career development to compete for the grand prize of an opportunity for an internship, and the Hydropower Foundation will be presenting the winning team with a cash prize!
